Wied il-Mielaħ is a fantastic place to visit and it’s suitable for every ages.

Wied is the Maltese word for wadi and it refers to a valley where there is a permanently or intermittently dry riverbed. Malta and Gozo do not have any permanent river but lot of  wadis.

It’s very easy to get to Wied il-Mielaħ even by car. From the village of Għarb take Triq il-Blata and follow the road. The trip It’s slightly more than 2000 meters. Most of the road is new and relatively wide for this part of the island.

If you travel by car just be careful to not take Triq it-Trux because in the last part, just before the fork to San Dimitri Chapel, the road is very very narrow. Although is unlikely to encounter a car travelling on the opposite way, it could be not easy to manage.

If you are a country walk fan, Gozo is the perfect location. You can walk almost wherever you like.

These images have been taken on a windy day at the end of the valley, where the rocks meet the sea.

A stairway leads to the Wied il-Mielaħ Window. More secret than the popular Azure Window due to the fact it’s much less exposed.
