L-Għadira ta’ Sarraflu in English should sound like “The Sarraflu Pond”.

It’s located in Triq tal-Misraħ, Kercem.

From the center of Kercem, or even from the hamlet of Santa Lucija, take Triq Qasam San Pawl and just go further. The road is OK.

L-Ghadira ta’ Sarraflu is a very important habitat in Gozo since it is the only natural waterhole where natural freshwater accumulates and persists throughout the year, even during the hot summer months, when most other freshwater dries up.

The only living amphibian that has ever been reported from the island is the Painted Frog (Discoglossus pictus) and can be found in the pond.

This species is highly adapted to live in the semi-arid Maltese environment,

Apart the naturalistic interest for this unique pond, a fantastic seaview is enjoyable from the cliff nearby.
